DIY Moving Announcements

After our recent move, I decided to create my own moving announcement. Considering the fact that it would have cost me well over $50 to order the same number of predesigned cards, I felt the time and effort was well worth it!

It cost me less than $15.00

You can do it too!

Design Style
I chose to go with a more simplistic style. By using digital cardboard for my background and a stacked photo frame, I was able to keep it simple, but still add dimension and texture. I also made sure to add a slight shadow to some of my elements to give the design some depth. I also went with more basic fonts to compliment the simple design. Size and Formatting
When you design a postcard, be aware of the requirements of the site where you decide to have them printed. Most sites will accept .jpg files that are 300 dpi or greater. However, some sites do require your image to be converted to CMYK. I like to use this simple site to convert from RGB to CMYK.

Printing Source
Because I only needed 50 postcards, I chose to use VistaPrint to have mine printed. For fifty 4x6 cards one-sided postcards, my cost (before the discount code I had) came to around $15 with shipping. Another source to consider if you are ordering more than 100 cards is GotPrint.
