In honor of Veterans Day, I would like to share some photos I took recently of a cemetery we stumbled across while in Norwich, CT.
Most of the tombstones dated from the 1700's to mid-1800's.
"Died Nov. 27, 1724"
"died of the small pox"
This cemetery was used during the time of the Revolutionary War.
This memorial reads:
"In memory of twenty French soldiers who, serving under Lafayette, died while in camp at Norwich Town 1778"
"Revolutionary War Patriot Christopher Leffingwell"
There is even a memorial and burial site for a signer of the Declaration of Independence, Samuel Huntington.
To all those who fought for the freedom of this country's independence and have fought to keep it free...
