Simple Little Things: The Atlas

It's been a busy week here. We're doing some remodeling in preparation to sell the house so we can move to Connecticut, Lord willing, in May. We needed a break from the dust and general mess that accompanies a remodeling project, so we spent an evening at my parent's house. At some point during the night, my dad pulled out an atlas and I captured this shot. I've often seen my dad do this very thing and just passed over it not thinking twice about how it's almost iconic to him. On this evening, I was grateful to stop and capture something that I've seen so many times before.

It made me wonder how many other things in life have I just taken for granted thinking that I'll always remember it... There are so many simple little things in our every day life that we so easily overlook because we're too busy.

I'm linking this photo on Rebecca's blog, Simple As That. I absolutely love her approach to capturing the simple little things in life! Her book,

WW: Captured in Ice

I captured this outside our house under a dripping edge of the roof. While the ice & snow can be pretty, I'm already anxious for Spring!

Card: Country Snowman Digital Stamp

I wish I could say that this card was my original idea, but it wasn't.... I got the inspiration from Pinterest. I did make some changes to it, however. The snowman was so adorable, I had to purchase the digital stamp for it! It took me a while, but I finally found the Country Snowman digital stamp at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.

To make this card...

I used my Silhouette to cut out the frame, used "print & cut" for the sentiment and snow banks, and cut out the snowflakes using the lpsnowflake font. I attempted to use the "print & cut" feature on my Silhouette software for the snowman .jpg image, but it would not cut it correctly... Can some one tell me why?! Is it some trick to make me buy the full version of the software?? I ended up just printing it and then cutting it out by hand.

For the rest of the card, I embossed both the frame and the card, colored the snowman with colored pencils, and added diamond stickles to the embossed white dots and the edge…

Simple Little Things: Color!

I love color. So do my boys. When it was time for finger paints this past week, my boys were delighted! I watched as they made their "creations" and enjoyed seeing their creative minds work.

Sometimes, it's the simple little things that make the best memories.
