DIY Moving Announcements

Image
After our recent move, I decided to create my own moving announcement . Considering the fact that it would have cost me well over $50 to order the same number of  predesigned cards , I felt the time and effort was well worth it! It cost me less than $15.00 You can do it too! Design Style I chose to go with a more simplistic style. By using digital cardboard for my background and a stacked photo frame, I was able to keep it simple , but still add dimension and texture . I also made sure to add a slight shadow to some of my elements to give the design some depth. I also went with more basic fonts to compliment the simple design. Most sites will accept .jpg files that are 300 dpi or greater.  However, some sites do require your image to be converted to CMYK. I like to use this simple site to c...

Card: Flying Birthday Wishes

Image
I designed this cards for one of my nephews. The clouds and sun are from Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge for the Cricut, if I remember right. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got the airplane image. You can find other fun airplanes by search for "airplane sketch", "airplane drawing", "airplane clipart", etc. For the airplane, I simply printed it on green paper and then cut it out. Covered the number "2" with glitter before adhering it. "Happy birthday" was printed in  Cheryl's Luv Bug font.

With Sympathy {Card}

Image
With World Cardmaking Day coming up on October 6, I thought I'd share another card that I created recently. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest {of course!} but due to time restrictions, I wasn't able to put as much effort into it as I would have liked to.  This card was easy to put together as it was mostly layering. I cut out the flower and stem on my new Silhouette Cameo. {which I absolutely LOVE!!} My font was  CAC Lasko Condensed . Through the enabling of my friend, Dottie, I finally purchased the small Sizzix embossing machine - I love it!! {Thanks, Dottie!} I only wish I had purchased it years ago! I'd love to find an embossing folder with small polka dots... anyone know where I can find one? I'm preparing for a birthday party this week {my oldest is turning 7!}, but hopefully, I'll be able to share a few more cards before WCMD.

Cards and an Amish Funeral

Image
With trying to finish up first grade with my little guy, my husband taking a trip to Connecticut for a week,  a Spring banquet, going to an Amish funeral, running a child to the doctor over a double ear infection and a bad case of pink eye, a newborn photo shoot, and just trying to keep things sane around the house... I've afraid I've neglected posting for far too long! Recently, I was asked to contribute a "handmade item" to a door prize for our church's Ladies Spring Banquet. Of course, I chose to make a set of cards. I got my inspiration from a card I saw here on Pinterest. I apologize for the poor photo quality. I was in hurry to turn them in for the door prize basket and had just come from a cold, windy day at the funeral of my Amish aunt. Yes, you read that right... I have Amish relatives. Before we go any further, let me clarify that no, I am NOT Amish! My parents were both born and raised in Old Order Amish families, but left the Amish religion ...
